Tonearm

Privacy Policy

The Short Version

Tonearm does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data. Your music library stays on your computer.

Data Collection

Tonearm is a local-only application. It:

  • Does not collect any personal information
  • Does not track usage or analytics within the app
  • Does not transmit any data about your music library
  • Does not require an account or login
  • Does not use any third-party analytics or tracking SDKs

Local Storage

Tonearm stores the following data locally on your Mac:

  • Analysis cache: Results of audio analysis are cached to speed up subsequent scans. This cache can be cleared from Settings.
  • Preferences: Your quality threshold settings are stored in standard macOS user defaults.

All local data is stored in your user Library folder and is never transmitted anywhere.

Update Checks

Tonearm uses Sparkle to check for updates. When checking for updates, a request is made to tonearm.club to fetch the appcast file. This request includes standard HTTP headers (such as your IP address) but no personal information or usage data is collected or stored.

Website Analytics

The Tonearm website (tonearm.club) uses Plausible Analytics, a privacy-focused analytics service that does not use cookies and does not collect personal data. This is limited to the website only and does not affect the app.
